Dr. Benwill joined the faculty of UT Health Northeast in 2013. Dr. Benwill graduated from medical school in 2008 from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies with high honors. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. During her residency, she received the Don W. Powell, MD, Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine and was nominated for Resident of the Year. Dr. Benwill went on to complete an infectious disease fellowship at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where she developed an interest in mycobacterial disease. She completed a fellowship in nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Benwill is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American College of Physicians and American Thoracic Society. She is board certified in Internal Medicine.
